Spiced oatmeal raisin cookie with warm cinnamon and clove flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups shortening
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 6 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups raisins
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while you give your cookie sheets a nice greasing.
  • In a large bowl, blend the shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mix in the vanilla, then combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. Stir this mixture into the sugar mix until well blended. Alternate adding rolled oats and milk, then finally fold in the raisins. Drop heaping spoonfuls onto cookie sheets, spacing 3 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 11 minutes until edges are golden and tops are dry. Allow to cool on the cookie sheets for 1 minute before transferring to wire racks to cool.
