Grandmother's Famous Cranberry Bread

Orange-scented loaf with raisins and cranberries - perfect for gifting or tea time.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 0.75 cup orange juice
  • 1.5 cups golden raisins
  • 1.5 cups chopped cranberries
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
  • Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda with a light whisk.
  • Incorporate the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Introduce the egg, orange peel, and orange juice; blend well and gently mix in the raisins and cranberries.
  • Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and bake in the oven for 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Once baked, remove from the pan and allow it to cool on a wire rack.
