Indulgent butter rolls baked in sweet milk sauce, perfect for chilly mornings.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.75 cup butter, softened
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.667 cup white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease a 7x11-inch baking pan.
  • Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender to mix in shortening until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add water and use your hands to form a dough. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread butter over the dough, then sprinkle on 1/4 cup sugar and nutmeg. Roll up the dough like a jelly roll and pinch to seal. Cut into 12 equal slices and place in the pan.
  • In a small saucepan, gently warm milk, 2/3 cup sugar, and vanilla until it starts to bubble. Drizzle the fragrant milk mixture over the rolls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, for 30-40 minutes.
