Grape Nuts custard with nutmeg, topped with butter and cereal, baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup wheat and barley nugget cereal (e.g. Grape-Nuts™)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut into small pieces
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl until fully mixed. Pour mixture into a baking dish, sprinkle with cereal, and dot with butter. Place the baking dish in a larger dish and add hot water until it reaches at least 1 inch up the sides.
  • Bake at the set temperature until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, approximately 1 hour. Add a dash of nutmeg before serving.
