Satisfying beef and veggie stew with potatoes and green beans, great for a cozy family meal in winter.
Ingredients:
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons beef base
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon celery salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground marjoram
  • 5 large carrots, cut into rounds
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and crumbly and onion is translucent, for about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and discard excess grease.
  • Combine 4 cups water, tomato sauce, beef base, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, celery salt, and marjoram in a pot. Bring to a simmer. Add carrots and simmer for about 35 minutes until tender. Add potatoes and green beans, then simmer for an additional 15 minutes until tender.
  • Combine flour and 2 tablespoons of water in a small bowl until smooth. Mix into stew and simmer until thickened, 5 to 10 minutes. Add more water if needed.
