Traditional German holiday dessert with self-made hard sauce. Pair with fresh cream for a delightful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.75 cup chopped nuts
  • 0.5 cup raisins
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, boiling water, vanilla, and butter in a medium bowl, then pour into the baking dish.
  • Combine white sugar, flour, milk, baking powder, nuts, and raisins in a pristine bowl. Spoon dollops of the mixture onto the one in the baking dish.
  • After baking in a preheated oven for 30 minutes, enjoy while warm.
