Elevate traditional lasagna with spicy chunky chili sauce for a zesty twist!
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 onions, peeled and chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme leaves
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 0.5 pound lean ground pork, veal or crumbled sausage
  • 4 cups Heinz® Tomato Juice
  • 1 (455 ml) bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce, Chunky with Sweet Peppers
  • 1 (156 ml) can Heinz Tomato Paste
  • 1 tablespoon Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
  • 12 oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). In a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat, warm oil and sauté onion, green pepper, garlic, and dried herbs for 5 to 10 minutes until vegetables are soft.
  • Cook the beef and pork until they are browned all over, which should take around 5 minutes. Add the tomato juice, chili sauce, tomato paste, and Worcestershire Sauce to the meat mixture, and bring it to a boil. Then, lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Begin by elegantly coating the bottom of a 13- x 9-inch casserole dish with a quarter of the luscious sauce. Place three noodles on top. Then, artfully layer a quarter more sauce and one-third of the cheese. Repeat these sumptuous layers twice, concluding with a generous sprinkle of cheese on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
