Hearty Meatball Sandwich

Succulent sandwich combining the best of meatloaf and meatballs, mess-free.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 0.33333334326744 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 0.5 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 cup marinara sauce
  • 3 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and half of the mozzarella cheese in a medium bowl. Shape the mixture into a log and transfer it to an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven until the center is no longer pink. Rest for 5 minutes, then slice into 1/2 inch slices. Layer a few slices onto each hoagie roll, top with marinara sauce, and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Wrap each sandwich in shiny aluminum foil, and bake in the oven for 15 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is gooey. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before indulging. Each sandwich serves 2.
