Easy and irresistible cake ball bon bons made with cake mix and frosting - perfect for any dessert spread!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix (or your favorite flavor)
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting ( or your favorite flavor)
  • 36 oz (from two 24-oz packages) vanilla or chocolate-flavored candy coating (almond bark)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Follow the instructions on the box to mix and bake the cake in a 13x9-inch pan. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Crumble warm cake in a large bowl and mix in the frosting until fully combined. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours until firm for shaping.
  • Place teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto a cookie sheet, shaping them into balls. If the mixture is sticky, refrigerate until firm. Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • Prepare a lined cookie sheet with foil. In a 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave 12 oz of candy coating uncovered on High for 1 minute and 30 seconds; stir. Continue microwaving and stirring in 15-second intervals until the coating is melted and smooth. Take out one-third of the balls from the freezer. Using 2 forks, coat and roll each ball in the melted coating. Place the coated balls on the foil-covered cookie sheet. Decorate as desired. Refrigerate the cake balls for about 10 minutes or until the coating sets. Melt the remaining candy coating in batches of 12 oz; coat the rest of the balls. Serve the cake balls at room temperature and store them in an airtight container.
