Elevate any dish with flavorful homemade Cajun seasoning, giving you full control over the perfect amount of spice and salt.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 3 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper (adjust according to your preference)
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Prepare the dried herbs: To simplify cleaning up, place a sheet of newspaper as your work surface. Use an electric spice grinder or mortar and pestle to grind the thyme and oregano until they are finely ground but not powdered. This step enhances the flavor extraction and ensures the herbs blend seamlessly with the rest of the ingredients.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the herbs and all remaining ingredients using a whisk until well blended. Alternatively, you can sift the mixture into a larger bowl using a mesh strainer to prevent any clumping, or use a mortar and pestle for a finer blend.
  • Store Cajun seasoning: Place your Cajun seasoning in a jar with an airtight lid. To easily transfer the ground spices, use a sheet of paper as a makeshift funnel. If the jar fills up, tap it on the counter to create more space. Preserve the seasoning by storing it in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
