Indulge in rich and subtly sweet cocoa coffee dinner rolls, reminiscent of top restaurant favorites. Let your bread machine handle the kneading for ease.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups warm water (75 to 85 degrees F, 25 to 30 degrees C)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1.6666667461395 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon vital wheat gluten
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 2.25 teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds for sprinkling
Instructions:
  • In the bread machine pan, layer water, sugar, butter, honey, bread flour, whole wheat flour, vital wheat gluten, cocoa powder, instant coffee granules, salt, and yeast as per manufacturer's instructions. Select the dough setting and start the machine, letting it run its full cycle.
  • Take the bread pan with dough out of the machine, place it in warm water (about 90 degrees F, 32 degrees C). Cover the pan with a towel and let the bread rise until doubled, approximately 1 hour.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface, gently deflate, and shape into 12 equal pieces for rolls or 3 pieces for small loaves. Roll each piece into a ball. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the rolls on it. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Let the baking sheet sit in a warm spot and rise until the bread doubles in size, around 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mist the hot oven with water, then promptly add the rolls. Bake until the rolls are a light golden brown (15-20 minutes) or until loaves are browned and sound hollow when tapped (20-25 minutes).
