Cook fresh sausage easily: grill, bake, or skillet cook for perfect results every time.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. fresh sausage links (such as bratwurst, Italian sausage, or kielbasa)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your gas grill to a sizzling medium-high temperature or push the hot coals to one side of your charcoal grill. Place the sausage links on the oiled grates over the cooler side of the grill.
  • Grill with lid on until sausage reaches 150°F (66°C), about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Cook the sausage over the flames on the grill, without a cover, turning it once halfway through, until it's beautifully browned and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C), which should take about 1 to 2 minutes. Serve as you like.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Place the sausage links on the baking sheet, making sure they are evenly spaced with at least a 1-inch gap between each one.
  • Roast in the warm oven until a thermometer reads 160 degrees F (71 degrees C), for roughly 20 minutes. Serve as desired. You can also use a skillet for this dish.
  • Arrange the sausage links in a single layer in a medium, high-sided skillet ensuring there is at least a 1-inch gap between each link. Add about 1/4-inch of water to the skillet. Heat over medium-high heat until it gently simmers, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Simmer gently over medium heat, cover and let cook without stirring until sausage reaches 130°F (54°C) on a thermometer, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Turn up the heat to medium-high, uncover and cook the sausages, turning occasionally, until the water evaporates, sausages turn brown, and a thermometer reads 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) when inserted into the thickest part, approximately 8 minutes. Serve as desired.
