Transform fresh horseradish root into a delicious homemade condiment with vinegar and a food processor for the best ever prepared horseradish!
Ingredients:
  • 8-10-inch long piece of horseradish root
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Pinch salt
Instructions:
  • Obtain an 8 to 10-inch horseradish root: If using a garden horseradish plant, dig up a 8 to 10-inch long tuber with a sturdy shovel. Rinse off any dirt and remove leaves if necessary.
  • Prepare the tuber by peeling off the skin with a vegetable peeler and then chopping it into pieces.
  • Grind fresh horseradish with water in a small food processor until well ground. Be cautious of the potency and keep at arm's length in a well-ventilated area. Adjust consistency by straining excess water. Add white vinegar and salt, pulse to combine. Adjust hotness level with additional vinegar if desired, 1 teaspoon at a time.
  • Carefully scrape the grated horseradish into a jar using a rubber spatula. Refrigerate, and it will stay fresh for at least a month. If you enjoyed this recipe, please share your rating!
