Indulge in velvety Turkish coffee, brewed on the stovetop with finely ground beans, served in small cups with a touch of sweetness. Learn the art of making this traditional delight in a cezve.
Ingredients:
  • For the basic coffee:
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Turkish coffee grounds
  • Optional:
  • 1/2 to 2 teaspoons sugar, depending on preference
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom or cinnamon, depending on preference
  • To serve:
  • Cold water
  • Turkish delight or another sweet treat, optional
Instructions:
  • Combine the coffee, water, and (optional) sugar or spices in a cezve: Pour the water and Turkish coffee grounds into a metal cezve (Turkish coffee pot). Add the sugar and/or spices, if desired, to the pot. Mix everything together gently using a small spoon or chopstick.
  • In a cezve, heat over medium-low until the water almost boils, about 3-4 minutes. Allow the coffee to slowly simmer for optimal brewing. Remove from heat when it starts to boil. For foam, transfer some to a cup. Return to heat, repeating 3 more times: boil, settle, and re-boil.
  • Pour the remaining coffee into the finjan after the fourth serving. Serve it alongside a glass of cold water and a delightful sweet treat such as Turkish delight. If you enjoyed the recipe, please leave a star rating below!
