Indulge in a rich and decadent chocolate dessert to satisfy your cravings.
Ingredients:
  • 1 bag (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon butter or margarine
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 to 6 teaspoons boiling water
  • 1/3 cup caramel topping
  • Chocolate curls, if desired
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted*
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan. In a 2-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips and 1/2 cup butter over medium heat, stirring frequently. Let cool for 5 minutes. Mix in flour until smooth, then blend in egg yolks until well combined.
  • Begin by vigorously whisking egg whites in a spacious bowl using an electric mixer until they turn foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until soft peaks start to appear. Gently incorporate the chocolate mixture into the fluffy egg whites. Proceed to spread the batter evenly in a pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the top is dry and cracked. Cool for 10 minutes, then run a knife along the side of the pan to remove the cake. Allow it to cool completely before placing it on a serving plate.
  • Melt chocolate and 1 teaspoon butter in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. Combine with powdered sugar and water until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cake, then top with caramel sauce, chocolate curls, and pecans.
