Make creamy Instant Pot® apple butter in less time with minimal clean up for a sweet, traditional treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 lemon, juiced
  • 3 pounds apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup unfiltered apple juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions:
  • In the insert of a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®), pour lemon juice and 4 inches of water. Slice apples directly into the lemon water to prevent browning.
  • After draining the apples, mix in apple juice, brown sugar, white sugar, honey, cinnamon sticks, and ground cloves. Seal the lid securely, choose high pressure following the manufacturer's guidelines, and set the timer for 8 minutes. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to build up.
  • Allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 to 40 minutes following the manufacturer's instructions. Then, unlock and remove the lid, and take out the cinnamon sticks.
  • Puree the apple butter using an immersion blender until smooth. Stir well with a spoon, then close and lock the lid. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to select the Slow Cooker Function and set the timer for 60 minutes.
  • Follow the manufacturer's natural-release instructions for 10 to 40 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid. Check the consistency by chilling a small amount on a plate for 10 minutes until thick enough to spread with a knife. If it's too runny, cook for 1 more hour.
