Try this Hawaiian-inspired Shoyu Chicken Drumsticks made effortlessly in the Instant Pot®. Pair with fluffy rice to savor the delicious sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1.5 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon potato starch
Instructions:
  • Mix soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, mirin, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a large bowl to create a flavorful sauce.
  • Add drumsticks to your Instant Pot® and smother them with sauce. Seal the lid tight, set to high pressure for 15 minutes following the manufacturer's guidelines, and patiently await the pressure to build for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Allow the pressure to release naturally following the manufacturer's guidelines for 10 to 20 minutes. Set aside the drumsticks once done.
  • Turn on the Saute function to quickly bring the sauce to a boil. Combine 2 tablespoons of cold water with potato starch in a bowl to create a thick slurry. Add the slurry to the sauce and stir rapidly until the sauce thickens to your liking. Serve the drumsticks with the sauce.
