Instant Pot® poached pears in port wine and spices - a delightful and quick treat for guests.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups port wine
  • 1.5 cups orange juice
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 4 firm pears, stems attached
Instructions:
  • In a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®), mix together water, port, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Use the Saute function and simmer for 3 minutes until the liquid starts to simmer gently.
  • Add the pears to the pot and seal the lid securely. Set the pressure to high following the manufacturer's guidelines, then set the timer for 8 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Release pressure slowly following manufacturer's directions for quick-release, approximately 5 minutes. Uncover and transfer pears to a plate to cool, while keeping the flavorful juices in the pot.
  • Secure the lid by closing and locking it. Choose high pressure based on the manufacturer's guidelines, then set the timer for 10 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to build.
  • Carefully release pressure using the quick-release method following the manufacturer's instructions for about 5 minutes. Remove the lid, discard cinnamon sticks from the sauce, and place poached pears in bowls. Drizzle with port sauce before serving.
