Delicious wheat rolls with olive oil, bread flour, and whole wheat flour, born from a lucky mishap while creating white Italian rolls.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 0.33300000429153 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 cups bread flour
Instructions:
  • Combine the olive oil, white sugar, and salt in a small bowl. Pour in the boiling water and stir until the sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to cool until it reaches lukewarm temperature.
  • In a cozy bowl, mix yeast with warm water. Allow it to sit until creamy for about 10 minutes.
  • Once the sugar and water mixture has cooled, combine it with the yeast mixture, eggs, whole wheat flour, and 2 cups of bread flour. Gradually mix in the remaining flour, adding 1/2 cup at a time, and ensure each addition is thoroughly beaten in. When the dough comes together, transfer it onto a lightly floured surface and knead until it is smooth and elastic, approximately 8 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 24 equal pieces and shape them into rounds. Arrange the rounds on lightly greased baking sheets. Cover with a damp cloth and let them rise until doubled in size, which takes approximately 40 minutes. While waiting, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake until beautifully golden, for 15-20 minutes in a preheated oven.
