Elevate potatoes with a Japanese-inspired twist. Try Sweet and Savory Potato Bites for bold flavors and impressive presentation.
Ingredients:
  • 1.6666667461395 cups water
  • 1.75 cups Japanese soy sauce
  • 0.75 cup tapioca flour (starch)
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (sweetened rice wine)
  • 6 frozen tater drums
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup thinly sliced cabbage
  • 0.5 cup small diced squid
  • 1 tablespoon dried fish flakes
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Japanese soy sauce
  • Roasted shredded seaweed
Instructions:
  • Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: Boil water in a pot, then stir in Japanese soy sauce until it re-boils. Mix in the sugar and mirin. Gradually sprinkle in tapioca flour and whisk until thickened and smooth.
  • Heat oil in a fryer or deep pan to 350 degrees F. Fry the tater drums for about 3 minutes, following the package instructions.
  • Heat oil in a skillet, then add the squid and cabbage. Saute with Japanese Soy Sauce until golden brown, then transfer to a plate.
  • Arrange the seasoned tater drums on top of the squid and cabbage, drizzle with 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise. Sprinkle with fish flakes and seaweed before serving.
