Spicy Cajun ground turkey and brown rice dish with onions and green peppers - perfect standalone meal or side dish for a Cajun feast.
Ingredients:
1.5 cups water

0.5 poundground turkey
0.5 cupchoppedgreen bell pepper
0.33333334326744 cupchoppedonion
0.5 teaspoonmincedgarlic
0.5 teaspoongarlic powder
0.5 teaspoondried celery flakes
1teaspoonCajun seasoning
0.25 teaspoongroundblack pepper
0.33333334326744 cupwater
1pinchsalt, or to taste
Instructions:
In a saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Add brown rice, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 40 to 50 minutes until tender and liquid is absorbed. Set aside cooked rice.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground turkey until it releases fat, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add green bell pepper, onion, and garlic; cook until turkey is crumbly and no longer pink and veggies are tender, about 5 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess grease. Stir in cooked brown rice, garlic powder, celery flakes, Cajun seasoning, black pepper, and 1/3 cup water.
Simmer the mixture until the liquid is absorbed, approximately 10 minutes. Season with salt and more black pepper to taste.
