Indulge in a light and tasty pear dessert highlighting the best of the season.
Ingredients:
  • 1 orange
  • 4 packham triumph pears, halved
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 168.75 gm maple syrup
  • 62.50 gm dry white wine
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Using a small sharp knife, remove two 4cm long strips of rind from an orange. Juice the orange to yield 1/4 cup of juice. Place the pears, orange rind, and cinnamon in a roasting pan. Combine maple syrup, wine, and the freshly squeezed orange juice in a jug. Pour the mixture over the pears, and toss them to coat evenly. Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil.
  • After roasting for 30 minutes, carefully uncover and generously coat the pears with the flavorful pan juices. Continue roasting for an additional 30 minutes, or until the pears are perfectly tender and the syrup has beautifully thickened.
