Southern-style candied bacon with a sweet and smoky maple twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (135 degrees C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until evenly browned, about 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels.
  • Arrange the pecans on a baking sheet without lining it, and toast in the preheated oven for 7 to 10 minutes until golden brown and fragrant. Be attentive to avoid burning. Allow them to cool before using.
  • Combine maple syrup, butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir constantly until the mixture turns into a foamy caramel and the candy thermometer reads 270 degrees F (130 degrees C) (soft crack stage). Add pecans quickly.
  • Coat each strip of bacon with the candy mixture, then use tongs to transfer them to the prepared baking sheet to cool and harden. Finally, enjoy!
