Elevate your Thanksgiving happy hour with maple caramelized apple and spiced praline bacon topped baked Brie appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • sea salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (8 ounce) round Brie cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare your baking sheet by lining it with shiny aluminum foil.
  • Place the bacon on the baking sheet. Combine pecans, brown sugar, chili powder, and sea salt in a bowl, then generously sprinkle the mixture over the bacon.
  • Bake until golden and crispy in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes. Let it cool on a rack. Roughly chop bacon into pieces.
  • In a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add apples and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and golden brown, about 8 minutes. Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and cinnamon. Transfer to a bowl.
  • Lay out a round parchment paper slightly larger than the Brie on a baking sheet. Set the Brie on the parchment paper and pile on the cooked apples generously.
  • Place in the preheated oven for 5 minutes until the Brie is warm. Top with the bacon-praline mixture and bake for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until bubbly. Using a large spatula, transfer to a serving platter and garnish with sea salt and rosemary.
