Marble tube cake with swirling vanilla and chocolate layers.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3.5 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low speed to blend sugar and butter (or margarine) until combined. Increase speed to high and beat until mixture becomes light and fluffy. Add flour, milk, baking powder, vanilla, salt, and eggs, then mix on medium speed until well combined. Increase speed to high and beat batter for an additional 4 minutes.
  • Transfer 2 1/2 cups of batter to a medium bowl. Use a wire whisk or fork to beat cocoa into the batter until fully blended.
  • Prepare a 10 inch tube pan by greasing it. Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan. Use a large spoon to create a marbled effect by cutting and twisting through the batters.
  • Bake the cake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely.
