Indulgent Italian marsala sauce elevates any dish with its rich flavors, perfect for pairing with steak, chicken, pork, potatoes, or polenta.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium shallot, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Marsala wine
  • 1 cup beef broth, or more as needed
  • 2 tablespoons port wine
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over gentle heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add mushrooms, shallot, garlic, and rosemary, and sauté until mushrooms are tender, about 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture, stir constantly for 1 minute. Deglaze the pan with marsala and cook for 2 minutes.
  • - Turn up the heat to medium. Add beef broth and port, then simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens to your desired consistency, about 10 to 12 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, adjust ingredients to taste.
