Whip up homemade Italian-style meatballs bursting with fresh flavors - perfect for your little one!
Ingredients:
  • 500g pork and veal mince
  • 62.50 ml finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 50g breadcrumbs
  • 62.50 ml fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 80g onion
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 700g bottled tomato pasta sauce
  • 60g pea
  • 62.50 ml fresh basil, coarsely chopped
  • 60g olive
  • 1/4 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 150g baguette
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 25g parmesan
Instructions:
  • Mix together mince, egg, breadcrumbs, cheese, and parsley in a medium bowl. Form level tablespoons of the mixture into balls.
  • To make garlic parmesan toasts: Preheat the grill. Toast bread slices on one side, then rub with garlic. Sprinkle cheese on the untoasted side and grill until melted.
  • In a large frying pan, heat half of the oil and cook the meatballs until browned, then set aside. In the same pan, heat the rest of the oil and sauté the onion and garlic. Pour in the sauce, bring to a boil, and add the meatballs back in. Simmer uncovered until the sauce slightly thickens.
  • Stir in peas and basil into the meatballs and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Offer your little one a delightful portion of meatball mixture accompanied by a slice of toast for a fun and easy finger food option.
  • Mix in olives and chili into the remaining meatball mixture, then serve with the remaining toasts.
