Delicious vegetarian black bean burgers bursting with fresh herbs and zesty spices.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 medium yellow onion, roughly chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped, or more to taste
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained, divided
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce, or more to taste
  • 0.5 cup bread crumbs, or more as needed
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Finely chop onion and garlic in a food processor. Add black beans, egg, cilantro, parsley, red pepper flakes, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce; pulse until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a spacious mixing bowl. Incorporate the rest of the black beans and breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper, then combine thoroughly. If the mixture is too wet, gently stir in up to 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs.
  • Shape the mixture into 6 equally sized patties.
  • In a large grill pan over medium-low heat, warm oil. Cook patties on the hot pan for about 6 minutes per side, until heated through.
