Crispy fried chicken with a seasoned flour and egg coating for juicy tenderness, no buttermilk needed.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons seasoned salt
  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 (2 to 3 pound) whole chickens, cut into pieces
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, seasoned salt, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow plate or bowl, then set aside. In a separate shallow bowl, place the eggs.
  • Coat chicken pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully covered. Next, dunk each chicken piece in the egg and coat once more in the flour mixture before placing on a platter.
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large skillet until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Fry the coated chicken pieces in hot oil for 5 minutes on each side. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes. Uncover, increase heat, and fry for an additional 5 minutes per side until crispy. Chicken is cooked when no longer pink inside and juices run clear. Use an instant-read thermometer near the bone - it should read 165°F (74°C).
  • Place your crispy fried chicken on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil, then keep it warm in the oven until you're ready to enjoy.
