Indulge in cheesy bratwurst hot dogs with sauerkraut, onion, and mustard for a delectable meal.
Ingredients:
1tablespoonvegetable oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1package (16 oz) beer bratwurst (6 count)
6slicesSwiss cheese
6rye or whole wheat hot dog buns, split, toasted
1/2 cupsauerkraut
2tablespoons coarse-grained mustard
Instructions:
In a 10-inch nonstick skillet, warm the oil over medium-low heat until it shimmers. Sauté the onion in the oil for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden brown and becomes tender.
Preheat the gas or charcoal grill.
Grill the bratwurst over medium heat, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, turning frequently until hot.
Place a slice of cheese around each bratwurst and then lay them on the buns. Finish by topping with sauerkraut, onion, and mustard.
