Make a Minecraft-themed party cake using pre-made cupcakes for easy assembly. Decorate with vibrant colors and creative piping for a festive touch.
Ingredients:
  • 35 vanilla cupcakes
  • 1.5kg salted butter, chopped, softened
  • 3kg soft icing sugar mixture
  • Blue, teal and brown gel food colouring
Instructions:
  • Place the cupcakes on a 90cm x 60cm cake board in an interlocking pattern, starting with 10 cupcakes in the first row, followed by 11 in the second row, and 10 in the third row to create a visually appealing display. Add an extra 3 cupcakes at the point between the 3rd and 4th cupcake on the outer lines to form the hilt design.
  • Prepare the buttercream in 3 separate batches. Start by placing 500g of butter in an electric mixer bowl and beat until light and creamy. Add 1kg of icing sugar, mix on low speed until combined, then increase speed and whip until fluffy.
  • Separate the icing into 4 bowls. Add a few drops of blue gel coloring to the first bowl and stir to combine. Gradually add more coloring, mixing well after each addition, until you reach your desired shade. Repeat the process with teal and brown to create both light and dark shades of brown.
  • Prepare piping bags with star nozzles and fill the first one with light brown icing. Pipe 4 lines in a square over the 7 cupcakes to create the sword hilt. Next, fill another piping bag with dark brown icing and pipe 4 lines in a square over the 7 external cupcakes underneath the hilt to make the sword handle. Then, fill a third piping bag with blue icing and pipe 4 lines in a square over the 13 external cupcakes above the hilt for the sword blade. Now, pipe the lower uniced cupcake in the hilt with blue icing. Using a fourth piping bag filled with teal icing, pipe 4 lines in a square over the 6 internal cupcakes to finish the sword blade. Finally, pipe the remaining cupcake in the hilt.
