Miniature Candy Topiary

Whimsical fruit and candy topiary brightens up any space.
Ingredients:
  • Scissors with pointed tips
  • 1 ball shape (1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter) green or white floral foam
  • 1 package (125-count) toothpicks
  • Assorted soft fruit snacks and candies (spearmint leaves, red and green nonpareil buttons, fruit shapes, gumdrops or gummies)
  • 1 plain or striped candy cane stick, 5 to 7 1/2 inches long
  • 1 large apple or orange
  • Decorative cup or small bowl
Instructions:
  • With a pair of scissors, gently create a hole two-thirds of the way into the center of the foam ball to insert the candy cane stick for the topiary trunk.
  • Break toothpicks in half as necessary. Scatter them in a fun pattern over the foam ball, leaving room for the candy cane stick. Slide each candy onto a toothpick half. The quantity of candy required will vary based on the ball's size and candy type. Gently place the candy cane stick in the hole.
  • Trim the bottom of the apple to create a flat base. Insert a candy cane stick two-thirds of the way into the top of the apple to make a topiary trunk.
  • Insert candy cane stick into apple cavity and plate.
