Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup shortening
Instructions:
  • Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl, whisking until well blended.
  • Pour 1/2 cup of the flour mixture into a small bowl and whisk in water until smooth.
  • Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal, then blend in the wet flour mixture.
  • Divide the dough into two pieces, shape each into a disk, wrap them in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes or up to 3 days before using.
