Traditional favorite cookie perfect for any gathering, baked lovingly by Mom for friends and family to enjoy with tea.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 1.5 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine the shortening and butter until creamy. Mix in the brown sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs and beat until well combined.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves into the creamed mixture. Add the raisins, nuts, and dates, stirring until combined.
  • Spoon cookie dough onto baking sheets and bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
