Mom's Soft Ginger Cookies: Aged to perfection for enhanced flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333298563957 cup shortening
  • 0.5 cup molasses
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Combine the shortening, sugar, egg, molasses, and water until creamy. Add the flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
  • Spoon dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 minutes until golden brown.
