Classic meatloaf recipe with savory onions and bell peppers, topped with a sweet ketchup glaze. Perfect for sharing with loved ones.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup crushed saltine crackers
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground marjoram
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine ground beef, tomato sauce, cracker crumbs, onion, eggs, bell pepper, salt, thyme, and marjoram in a large bowl, ensuring all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Form the mixture into two loaves of equal size and transfer to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Wrap the dish in foil and bake in the oven that has been preheated for 1 hour.
  • Combine ketchup and corn syrup in a small bowl to create a delicious glaze while the meatloaves are baking.
  • After an hour, take out the baking dish from the oven, uncover, and brush glaze onto both loaves. Bake again without the foil until the loaves are fully cooked and no longer pink in the center, for about 15 to 20 minutes. Check with an instant-read thermometer to ensure it reaches at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
