Velvety pound cake with rich butter and shortening, bursting with luscious vanilla flavor - a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup shortening (such as Crisco®)
  • 5 eggs
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup evaporated milk
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and prepare a fluted tube pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix sugar, butter, and shortening until light yellow. Add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Alternate adding 1/3 of the flour and half of the milk and water until all incorporated. Stir in vanilla extract and mix for 1 minute.
  • Transfer the batter into the greased tube pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for around 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack.
