Decadent Bethlehem Christmas cookies infused with gingerbread and molasses flavors.
Ingredients:
  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2.25 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 4 cups molasses
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, and ginger. Add sugar and mix thoroughly. Use a pastry blender to incorporate lard and butter into the mixture.
  • In a small bowl, mix vinegar and baking soda until dissolved. Add this to the flour mixture in a large bowl. Stir in molasses until well combined. Chill dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before using.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Roll the dough out thinly on a floured surface and use decorative cookie cutters to create fun shapes.
  • Place in the preheated oven and bake until lightly browned, approximately 10 minutes.
