Irresistible snickerdoodle cookies with crispy edges, chewy centers, and a hint of spice - a guaranteed hit for any gathering.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Heat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together sugar, butter, shortening, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined. Shape the dough into walnut-sized balls.
  • Create a sweet and fragrant cinnamon-sugar blend by mixing sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl or zip-top plastic bag.
  • Coat the dough balls in cinnamon-sugar by rolling or shaking them until fully coated. Place them 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until just set, rotating racks halfway through.
  • Transfer the dish from the oven to wire racks to cool promptly.
