Elevate canned crab with green onion, egg, mayo, Old Bay, crackers, & bread crumbs for golden, crispy crab cakes.
Ingredients:
  • 6 green onions, chopped
  • 1 (16 ounce) can canned crabmeat, drained
  • 8 ounces buttery round crackers, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs) or regular dry bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup olive oil, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over high heat. Sauté green onions in the hot oil until tender, then allow them to cool slightly before using.
  • Mix together crabmeat, cooked green onions, crushed crackers, egg, mayo, dry mustard, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Shape into ten 1/2-inch-thick patties.
  • Coat patties with bread crumbs by pressing them gently in a shallow bowl.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat up 1/2 cup of olive oil. Cook the patties in the hot oil until they are golden brown on each side. Drain them briefly on a paper towel-lined plate and serve while hot.
