Homemade soft and fluffy English muffin bread straight from your oven!
Ingredients:
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 0.5 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 cups warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 6 cups bread flour, divided
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons yellow cornmeal
Instructions:
  • Combine yeast and sugar in warm water in a small bowl, allowing it to sit until creamy for about 10 minutes.
  • Mix the yeast mixture with warm milk, 3 cups of flour, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl; stir until well combined. Gradually add the rest of the flour, one cup at a time, until a stiff batter forms. Divide the batter into two lightly greased 9x5 inch loaf pans, each dusted with 1 tablespoon of cornmeal. Cover and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown on top and the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped, about 25-30 minutes. Remove from pans right away and cool on wire racks.
