Elevate your grilled cheese with apple butter and chicken slices.
Ingredients:
  • 4 slices sourdough or other rustic whole-grain bread
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter
  • 4 slices (3/4 to 1 oz each) sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz thin slices cooked chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions:
  • Spread apple butter evenly on 1 side of each bread slice. Layer each with a slice of cheese, half of the chicken, another slice of cheese, and the remaining bread slices.
  • In a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place sandwiches in the skillet and spread the tops of the bread with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook for 5 minutes, turning once, until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
