Old Fashioned Pound Cake II

Delicious pound cake infused with vanilla and lemon, airy and light without leavening powder.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups shortening
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons lemon extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a 10 inch tube pan by greasing and flouring it. Sift together the flour and salt, then set aside.
  • Combine shortening and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, mix until just combined. Stir in vanilla and lemon extracts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 90 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center. After baking, allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
