Sicilian meatballs with a savory tomato sauce made with a mix of ground beef and pork, or try a vegetarian twist with zucchini in place of meat.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 (29 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 4 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
  • Combine garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, parsley, and basil in a large pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat.
  • Combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and parsley in a large bowl. Shape into child-fist-sized balls. Brown the meatballs in hot olive oil in a skillet. Add them to the sauce and simmer over low heat for four hours.
