Honey-infused Southern-style bread perfect for butter and drizzled honey.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup bacon flavor bits or chips
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine flour, cornmeal, bacon chips, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl; set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs with a fork, then whisk in milk, honey, and 1/2 cup of melted butter. Add egg mixture to flour mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  • In a preheated oven, warm up oil in an 8-inch square or 9-inch round pan for 1 minute. Pour the batter into the heated pan.
  • Bake the cornbread until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, for 20 to 25 minutes. Brush with 1 tablespoon of melted butter and serve warm.
