Bake up delicious Filipino pandesal rolls for a warm and tasty breakfast treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups warm milk
  • 0.75 cup white sugar, divided
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together milk, 2 teaspoons of sugar, and yeast until the sugar and yeast are completely dissolved, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine the remaining sugar, flour, and salt in a large bowl. Add the milk mixture and vegetable oil, then mix until the dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a flat work surface. Knead until smooth, shape into a ball, and place back in the bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and allow it to double in size, about 1 hour.
  • Cut the dough into 4 equal portions with a bench knife. Shape each portion into a log and then slice diagonally into 1-inch pieces.
  • Spread a generous layer of bread crumbs on a large plate. Coat each piece of dough in bread crumbs and arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow the dough to rise until puffy, about 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake until beautifully golden, for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven.
