Make a show-stopping cake for your tea party.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 1 1/2 containers Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy creamy white frosting
  • Betty Crocker™ blue gel food color
  • Decorating bag with tips
  • 1 plastic plate
  • 1 or 2 large marshmallows
  • Betty Crocker™ colored sugar
  • Candy-coated chocolate candies
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and prepare cake as instructed on box for a 13x9-inch pan.
  • Slice cake horizontally in half. Place one half on a serving plate and generously spread the top with 2 tablespoons of white frosting from half the container. Cover with the second cake half. Stand the cake on its end with the cut sides facing downward. Freeze for 1 hour.
  • Mix food color into 1 container of frosting until it turns a delightful shade of light blue. Spread the entire cake with the lovely light blue frosting.
  • Use a toothpick to trace an elongated V-shape along the front and top of the cake to create the purse flap. Mix food color into 1/2 of the frosting to make it dark blue, then frost the purse flap with it. Transfer the rest of the dark blue frosting to a piping bag with a writing tip #7 or #8 and pipe a shell border along the purse flap and edges of the purse.
  • Slice the rim of a plastic plate in half and insert onto the top of the cake for a handle. Decorate the cake to look like a purse using candies. Cut marshmallows into slices and sprinkle with colored sugar. Arrange marshmallow slices on the cake to resemble a clasp. Press a candy onto the center of the clasp and store covered lightly.
