Irresistible appetizer with perfect sweet and savory balance.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 firm pears, peeled, quartered, and sliced
  • 0.75 cup crumbled blue cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and olive oil until sizzling. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and golden brown, about 30 to 40 minutes. Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent burning. Season with salt and pepper, then let cool.
  • With precision, slice each puff pastry sheet into 9 squares. Further divide these squares by cutting them diagonally to form a total of 36 triangles. Arrange the triangles on the baking sheets, then sprinkle caramelized onions, pears, and a teaspoon of blue cheese on each.
  • Bake until the pastry is golden and puffed, about 20-30 minutes. Let cool to room temperature before serving.
