Creamy vodka sauce with garlic, basil, and penne.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 0.5 cup chopped fresh basil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.25 cup vodka
  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1 pint heavy cream
Instructions:
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, sauté garlic until tender for 1 to 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, slightly mashing with a fork. Mix in basil, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 15 minutes. Pour in vodka and continue cooking for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Bring a large pot of perfectly salted water to a vigorous boil. Add the pasta and cook until it reaches the ideal texture known as al dente; then drain.
  • Blend the cream into the sauce and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Mix the sauce with piping hot pasta.
