Try this mouthwatering homemade pepper steak for a pub-style treat.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (about 150g each) beef scotch fillet steaks
  • 2 x 30g cans green peppercorns, drained, crushed
  • 20g butter
  • 2 bunches asparagus, woody ends trimmed
  • 2 zucchini, thickly sliced
  • 65g (1/4 cup) whole-egg mayonnaise
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 x 475g mashed potato
Instructions:
  • Season the steaks with salt on both sides, then press them into the peppercorns on a plate until coated.
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter with oil. Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or to your preferred level of doneness.
  • Place asparagus and zucchini in a large heatproof bowl and cover with boiling water. Let sit for 2 minutes until asparagus is bright green and tender. Drain and mix with mayonnaise and garlic in a bowl.
  • Simply warm up the mash according to the packet instructions. Plate the mash and vegetables, then layer with the steaks. Finish by serving with savory garlic mayonnaise.
